T-SHIRT PRINT IDEAS

Over the summer I have been designing prints for T-shirts using stencilling techniques and spray dyes and fabric paint. The designs have been inspired by my logo and feature triangles.

AN INSPIRING AND VIBRANT BRAND AIMED AT UNIQUE TRENDSETTING INDIVIDUALS. THE GARMENTS ARE BOTH ORGANIC AND ARCHITECTURAL WITH AN ELEMENT OF ELECTRONIC THEMES. THE AIM OF THE BRAND IS TO EXCITE AND PROVOKE CREATIVE YOUNG WOMEN.

FOR THE LOGO I HAVE USED I HAVE USED THE LETTERS S, A AND Z WHICH SPELLS SAZ, AN ABBREVIATION OF MY NAME- SARAH. I TRIED MAKING A SIMILAR LOGO USING MY INITIALS; S, A AND C HOWEVER, THEY DIDN’T FIT TOGETHER AS WELL.

MENSWEAR

I HAVE DESIGNED A MENSWEAR COLLECTION FOR SPRING / SUMMER 2013 USING THE CORAL THEME AGAIN BUT USING IT TO DEVELOP PATTERNS FOR PRINT AND VARIOUS TIE DYE TECHNIQUES.

I STARTED THIS PROJECT BY RESEARCHING MENSWEAR AND COMING UP WITH MY IDEAL CONSUMER FOR MY OWN MENS MID-MARKET BRAND.

AFTER EXPERIMENTING WITH DIFFERENT DYE TECHNIQUES AND PRINT IDEAS I CAME UP WITH THESE MOODBOARDS

THESE ARE THE FINAL DESIGNS I CAME UP WITH FOR MY COLLECTION FEATURING ILLUSTRATIONS AND TECHNICAL DRAWINGS OF EACH GARMENT

Coral S/S 13

This coral inspired collection combines sheer fabrics with contrasting textural layers reminiscent of intricately beautiful and surreal sea life creatures.  These classic garment shapes have a textural twist infused with electronic components for a different take on this theme.

For this collection I used various froms of pleating including shibori on the collars and also used the laser cutter to apply shapes to the fabric to create coral like textures. I also used electroluminescent wires that i bent into coral inspired shapes to enhance the outfits.

Jellyfish A/W 2012

The starting point for this collection was jellyfish. By combining a mixture of layered translucent textures and bright glowing wires the effect created is very reminiscent of jellyfish in their natural underwater habitat.

I developed an outline of a jellyfish image on illustrator by repeating and resizing this basic shape and then translated this texture into fabric by layering translucent fabrics.

Moodboards

I used electroluminescent wires and fibre optics to create the glowing effect. I combined translucent fabrics both stiff (cotton organdie) and more flowing along with neoprene in my designs to reflect the texture of Jellyfish.

I decided to make a short fashion film to promote my collection.
